Joe Cole’s Marathon Swim Story

I’m embarrassed at how long this story has been in my hopper. The truth is, I’m not sure the best way to introduce a story like Joe’s…

It’s a story of transformation.

Feeling uniquely alone.

And that uniqueness being what brings us ultimately together.

This story needs to be heard. Thank you Joe Cole for sharing your story. Enjoy!

In his own words:

Joe has been swimming on and off his whole life. But over the last several years swimming has become something different, more meaningful and expressive. Joe finished the La Jolla 10 mile relay, solo in 2019 and after training all through 2020 his Catalina Channel permit was postponed due to covid. In 2021 Joe swam around Coronado Island 11.5 miles and attempted to swim Catalina but was pulled out of the water unconscious at 2:30am after having a stroke. 2022 was a new year and with a new perspective Joe successfully swam the Catalina Channel and smiled the whole way. Joe trains with an amazing pod in La Jolla year round and works as a Hospice Chaplain.
