In her own words: Elaine K. Howley is a life-long swimmer who began marathon swimming in 2006 with the 8-mile Boston Light Swim. She has since completed the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming and the Triple Crown of Monster Swims. In 2014, she became the first person to complete a 32.3-mile solo crossing of Lake Pend Oreille in Northern Idaho. She was also the first woman to complete the 24-mile 3X Boston Light Swim. When she’s not swimming, Elaine is a freelance journalist, writer, and editor.
